“The independence of European value chains in the information and electronics industry is of great importance. As a member of the Executive Board, it is therefore my concern to promote our technological sovereignty with the help of ITG and to focus on sustainability—because sustainable technologies are part of our competitive advantage. The semiconductor and communications industry is facing a decade of technological breakthroughs. It is important that industry, research and universities work together to help shape developments and be successful in a changed world,” Prof. Dr. Rüdiger Quay says, summarizing his agenda as new member of the Executive Board.
About the ITG
The Information Technology Society is a specialist society of the VDE (Verband der Elektrotechnik Elektronik Informationstechnik e.V.). It acts as an important information partner for politics and society, forms an active specialist network and expands information technology expertise through the cooperation of experts from production, application and science. The Executive Board of the ITG is elected for a period of three years and is the most important decision-making body of the VDE.
Of the total of nine board members, three each come from the fields of science and teaching, service providers, network operators and research institutes as well as industry. Dr. Volker Ziegler took over as Chairman of the Executive Board at the beginning of the year.
